Tranquility,also known as NODE 3,is amodule of the innternational space station and the italian space agency had tranquility built by thales alenia space.
the module provides 6 berthing locations .It contains the most advanced life systems ever flown in space. It can recycle waste water and use it to generate oxygen for the crew.
on april 14 2009 astronaut sunita williams appeared on the colbert report and announced the name of the node would be "tranquility" in this way the naming was done. the name was chosen of the 40th anniversary of the first lunar landing on the sea of Tranquility. but the exercising unit will be named "C.O.L.B.E.R.T" i.e combined operational bearing external resistance treadmill and will be located in tranquility.
Tranqyility was launced on feb 08 2010 on board the STS-130 mission flown by endeavour..
