After Govt Its IPL That Wants Google To Remove Content

It seems everyone wants to control what shows up on Google search. So if earlier today we reported how Indian government ranks 3rd among world governments in requesting content removal and censorship today now IPL the controversial cricket tournament is asking Google to remove certain content.
The reason for IPL to requests such removals is connected with blogs on blogger.com using IPL content on their sites which is copyrighted. We have blogged about how different rights for the ipl were sold to various partners. So its no surprise that any copy paste of the content from their website or images is being looked at very seriously
The links that are asked to be removed include liveipl2009.blogspot.com, onlineliveipl.blogspot.com and ipl-live-cricket-video.blogspot.com.

Though this too is content removal its copyright related and not freedom of expression related like the government requests. I guess IPL’s partnership with Youtube should now make it easier for them to get Google to approve of such requests rather easily. Ah the benefits of being on the better side of Google!
