Bike ABS
Till recently, honda was the sole two-wheeler manufacturer offering Anti-lock braking system on motorcycles. Continental Corporation, one of the top automotive suppliers worldwide has developed an ABS system for motorcycles. The compact ABS system weighs only about 1.2 kilograms and can be easily fitted into the braking setup of most motorcycles. Dirk Remde, Director of motorcycle braking systems in Continental's Chassis & Safety Division, said that Widespread use of anti-lock devices on motorcycles and motor scooters would make a significant contribution towards reducing the number of serious injuries and fatalities. He further added that their systems are making an important contribution to the European Safety Charter, the declared aim of which is to halve the number of motorcycle accidents by 2010 compared with 2004. It took Continental just 16 months to develop the new MAB (Motorcycle Anti-lock Braking system). The system will be installed for the first time by Aprilia in its new models Mana, Shiver and Dorsoduro. The global automotive supplier had unveiled the Motorcycle Integral Braking System (MIB),their first ABS system for motorbikes, in collaboration with BMW two years ago
